Embarking on the trekking trail, one if greeted by the gentle flow of the Karnali River, a faithful companion throughout the expedition. Alongside, quaint villages dot the landscape, each preserving the rich tapestry of Tibetan culture and tradition, seemingly untouched by the passage of time.

Yet, it is not just the cultural allure that captivates the soul; the natural splendor of Limi Valley unveils itself in all its glory. Towering peaks such as Byas Rishi, Api, Saipal, Kanjirowa, Kanti, and Gorakh stand sentinel, their snow-capped summits painting a breathtaking panorama against the wide alpine valleys below.

Schedule Details

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU 1300M
  • Flying to Kathmandu is in itself an exciting and memorable experience. On a clear day, you will get a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. After completing the visa formalities, collect your luggage downstairs. As you exit the terminal, you will be welcomed by our representatives. From the airport, you will be transferred to your booked hotel in Kathmandu. On reaching, you can either relax in your room or go for a walk exploring the streets.
  • In the evening, we host a welcome dinner with cultural entertainments.

Guided activities on the first day depend upon the arrival time and preference of the traveler.

DAY 02: PREPARATION DAY IN KATHMANDU
  • The managing Director of our company will meet you at the hotel and provide more information about the adventure. Your dues must be cleared before commencing the trip. Later in the afternoon, you are free to roam around the city. We will finalize all the paperwork and make a final check of the equipment. In case you have missed any, you can buy them in the market.
  • While we take care of your paperwork, you will have time to explore the city at your own pace. In case you are interested in guided sightseeing in heritage sites, we are pleased to offer the service.

DAY 03: KATHMANDU TO NEPALGUNJ FLIGHT
  • In the morning you can stroll in the streets of Thamel while we arrange all your trekking documents (TIMS, Climbing Permit and National Park Permit). Then you collect all the documents from our representatives and drive to the domestic section of the Kathmandu airport.
  • From Kathmandu, we fly on any domestic carrier to Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is a town in Western Terai near to the Indian border and Bardia National park. It is a major transport hub for western, mid-western and far-western regions of Nepal.

DAY 04: FLY TO SIMIKOT 2960M
  • From the bustling city of Nepalgunj, you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Simikot, the district headquarter of Humla. This is an exciting flight with the distant view of mountains and beautiful alpine valleys below the clouds. On reaching, if you get time for the trek to Dharapuri, we may start; otherwise we stay at a guest house in Simikot.

DAY 05: TREK TO DHARAPURI AND YAKBA KHOLA 2500M
  • Today we trek on the rocky trail along the barley and wheat terraces to the large rock cairn at the top of forested ridge overlooking the Simikot down. Through the pine forests, you make a long descent towards the bank of Karnali River. Following the village of Tuling, you reach your campsite overnight.

DAY 06: TREK TO KERMI 2800M
  • After a slight climb, you reach the police check post where your guides will clear all the formalities of entering into the restricted zones. Following the rocky trail and a long scree slope, you cross a stream and reach Khankagaon. This is the last Thakuri settlement on the trail to Limi Valley. You will visit the hot springs on the way. Following a steep climb along the river, you reach Kermi and set up tents for overnight.

DAY 07: TREK TO YALBANG 3072M
  • Today is a bit of an easy trail with few climbs. You will be rewarded with the view of Mt Saipal from your trail. Following the bank of Karnali River and pine forests, you reach a pass at 3133m. With a gradual descent from the pass and reaching the lunch station, you will have 2 more hours for your walk and reach the campsite. On the latter section of the trail, we will visit the Namka Khyung Zong Gompa.

DAY 08: TREK TO TOMKOT KHOLA 2900M
  • You will start the trek with a climb over the slope and a gradual descent to the river. Following the rocky trail, with high cliffs towering above you, the trail goes along a few ups and downs. Crossing the south bank of Karnali River on a suspension bridge, you will reach the village of Much. From ‘Much’, you will have the distant view of the Sakya Monastery in Tomkot. Our campsite is just below the monastery.

DAY 09: TREK TO THARO DHUNGA 4000M
  • Today is a long but a beautiful day. From your campsite, you will climb up to the pass at 3310m leaving the Karnali River to the right. About an hour from the pass, you will trek through the valleys where you will see the road that leads to Tibet. After lunch at Palbang, the trail climbs up to the village of Yari. Yari was traditionally a fort, which was used by Khoampa leader Wagdi to escape to India. From the village, you will reach your campsite after an hour of walking.

DAY 10: TREK TO HILSA 3700M
  • Today you walk along the meadow and a river. On the trail, you will meet the traders who bring goods from China and sell them to the region. Following the valley, you will climb up to the Nara Langna pass at 4580m. From the pass you will have a beautiful view of mountain ranges and the alpine valleys below. Gradually descending from the pass, you will have a view of the Tibetan plateau, the Humla Karnali River and the green terraces. After descending from the pass, you take the road which contours around the mountains and finally heads towards Hilsa village, which is the last frontier of the Nepal border. Near the village, we will set up our campsite overnight.

DAY 11: TREK TO CHUK RANGMA VIA MANEPEME 4164M
  • After the police check post in Hilsa and crossing the river, we will ascend for an hour where we will meet the main trail coming from Sher to Limi valley. The undulating trail from here heads north-west looking down onto the Humla Karnali River to a stone Chorten at 4110m. The views are stunning and you will see some mountain sheeps, yaks and blue sheeps along the trail. It is very rare to spot a snow leopard but be careful! Trek through the landslide zones and reach Manepeme for lunch. There is a big stone carved with ‘Om Mane Padme Om’ which is the ancient Buddhist mantra, translated as ‘Praise to the Jewel 'in the lotuses. After the winding ascent from Manepeme, you will reach your campsite overnight.

DAY 12: TREK TO TIL CHU 3580M
  • This is an exciting day as you will see the first village of Limi Valley. From the campsite, you will climb up to the pass (4300m). The trail descends to a tiny stream and continues down and crosses a slope. You will have the view of Til Gompa and beautiful barley fields in Til village. You will camp today at the confluence of Takchi Chu and Til Chu stream. You will see the traps used to catch snow leopards as it destroys the livestock of villagers.

DAY 13: TREK TO JANG HOT SPRING VIA HALJI 4099M
  • Early in the morning, crossing the Takchi Chu River on a wooden bridge, you will walk along the barley fields before arriving at Halji village. On the way, we will visit the Rijziling Gompa which is around 1000 years old. There are around 500 people in Halji who travel to China and buy necessary goods in exchange. Surrounded by the willow trees and mountain range in the north, this is the most beautiful village in the valley. After lunch at Halji village, you will follow the river before climbing the ridge at 3850m. Before reaching Jang, the series of irrigated barley fields and a white Gompa appear.
  • The people of Limi valley make the wonderful, well-finished wooden bowls from pine, birch and maple trees that grow in the southern side of the river. We also can buy the bowls and offer them some money. After around an hour of walking, you will reach your campsite for today.

DAY 14: REST DAY
  • Today I will rest at Limi valley. You can explore the traditional culture of the valley and take a relaxing shower in the hot springs nearby.

DAY 15: TREK TO TALUNG 4370M
  • Jumping and crossing the small streams you will walk along the meadow and climb a rocky ridge. Crossing the bridge and heading south, you trek towards Talung. Below the plateau is a Gumma Yok (4170m), which was once a village of Limi valley and now has been abandoned. However, we still can explore the remnants of the buildings and houses. Crossing another river and walking for an hour, we reach our campsite at Talung. Talung is used by yak herders to graze their cattles in summer time.

DAY 16: TREK TO SHINJUGMA VIA NYALU PASS 4990M
  • Along the valley, you walk towards the highest pass of the trek, Nyalu pass. On a clear day you can see Mt Kailash (the holiest mountain in Tibet) from the pass and surrounding peaks in Himalayas. Descending along the moraines and small lake you follow the Salie River all the way to your campsite at Sinjugma or Chungsa.

DAY 17: TREK TO THE BASE OF SECEHLA 4164M
  • We leave the campsite with the open valleys walking through the birch and pine trees along the bank of the river. After lunch, we follow the beautiful wooden duns to a pass with the great views of the mountains. Finally reach Secehla and camp near Salie River.

DAY 18: TREK TO LAKE DINGA VIA SECHULA PASS 4518M
  • Today you will have another high pass to cross. We start up early and head towards the pass along the steep and gradually zigzag trail. From the Pass the views are stunning. Towards the south lies Simikot ridge and in the west and north, you have the majestic mountains. From the pass, gradually descending towards the small stone huts to the river will reach the lunch site. Following the pine trees and a gradual descent leads to our campsite in Lake Dingna.

DAY 19: TREK TO SIMIKOT
  • After a long descent of 850m, and following the rocky trail with walnut trees leads you to the Yakpa village. Final descent of 500m and a few minutes’ walk takes you to Simikot. Today marks the last night for your camping adventure. Feel proud as you complete the whole circuit of Limi valley.

DAY 20: FLY TO NEPALGUNJ AND TO KATHMANDU
  • Today we took an early flight from Simikot to Nepalgunj. 2 hour long flight over the clouds was full of wonderful views of the Himalayas including Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri to the north. Upon arrival, we take another flight to Kathmandu as per the availability of tickets and flight schedules.

DAY 21: UNESCO SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU
  • Today you will have sightseeing in Heritage sites around the Kathmandu Valley.
    A short drive from the hotel takes you to Basantapur, known as Kathmandu Durbar Square. Explore the arts and architecture of ancient Nepal that are finely crafted in the monuments. Visit the Kumari house and learn about the living Goddess, “Kumari.”
  • Later you will be taken to Swayambhunath, also known as monkey temple. It is another UNESCO site in Kathmandu valley. There are seven in total. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist temple situated on a hilltop inside the Kathmandu valley. The temple is full of monkeys, monasteries, statues, visitors and some restaurants which give a 360 view of the Kathmandu valley.
  • In the evening we host a farewell dinner with cultural entertainments.

DAY 22: FINAL DEPARTURE
